Thermochromic paints have the ability to change their color according to the temperature.
> They are colorful and opaque when cold, and they turn transparent when they are hot. In their hot state, they disappeard and one can see the background color.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The colorshifting appears when the paint and its substrate are exposed to a significative temperature shift. The temperatures levels available for our paints are 10°C, 32° or 50°Celcius.
The effect occurs instantly, during the heating or the cooling. The color is more or less opaque and fades a little bit when its temperature comes near the temperature limit. At the exact limit, the paint instantly turns from opaque/colorful to transparent.
WHAT PRIMER DO I NEED TO USE?
The background color choices is very important, because this is what is appearing while the thermochromic is transparent. Thereby, it is recommended to use a white background or a lighter color (than the thermo itself) in order to create a contrast. For example, if one apply a red thermo over a yellow paint, one will obtain a red (when cold), and a yellow (when hot). One may as well use vivid colors like fluorescent for the background. On the opposite, we do not advise to put pearlized or metallic paints for the background as the thermochromic transparency is a bit blurred.
Thermals do not have a covering power as good as the classic opaque colors. Black or Blue thermochromic are more covering than some other like the red.
COMPOSITION: 1K ready to use waterborne paint
USE: With spraygun preferably, or others technics
APPLICATION QUICK GUIDELINE:
Instructions are simple: One apply first a light colored basecoat. This one should be clean and sanded, before 4 to 6 passes of thermo are sprayed until one reach the right coverage. The temperature of the room or the spraygun air, may get the paint react. To determine if enough paint has been applied, one just have to expose the painted item to a source of heat or cold.
Lifetime: Thermals may reach more than 10000 colorshifts before they expire.
Varnishing: For outdoor use, it is obligatory to use our UV screen Clearcoat, which will reinforce the protection against sunlight, which can quickly damage the unprotected paint. (Find the AntiUV clear in the Clearcoat Category or the UV concentrate additive in the Additive Category). Even with UV screen, it is important to avoid extended exposition to sunlight and high temperatures (above 75°C)
UV- Stability / stabilität ca. 1/2 Jahr .
